Malaysia is one of the best-value destinations in South East Asia — you get Thailand-grade scenery and Singapore-grade infrastructure at noticeably lower prices.
The headline numbers
For a comfortable two-week trip with nice hotels and a couple of included tours, most of our customers spend roughly £1,700–£2,300 per person all-in. The Borneo wildlife trips sit at the top of that range; the beach-and-city routes at the bottom.
Flights
Return flights from London to Kuala Lumpur run about £600–£900 per person, often direct — a 13-hour haul. One-stop options can save money. We bundle flights into our packages with full protection.
Hotels
- Budget — £15–£35 a night for clean guesthouses.
- Mid-range — £45–£85 a night for a solid 4★.
- Premium — £110–£300 a night for beachfront resorts and lodges.
Malaysia's hotels are exceptional value — a beachfront resort here costs what a city room costs elsewhere.
Food, transport and tours
Street food is gloriously cheap — a full meal from a hawker stall costs £1.50–£3, and restaurant dining £8–£15 a head. Internal flights (KL–Langkawi, KL–Kota Kinabalu) run £30–£80 one-way. Borneo's wildlife experiences are the main splurge — river cruises and sanctuary visits add up, but they're worth every ringgit.
What our packages cost
Our Langkawi & KL package starts at £1,725 per person and the Borneo adventure from £1,990pp — flights, hotels and tours all included.
Quick questions, answered
How much spending money should I budget?
About £40–£80 a day per couple — Malaysia's food and transport are genuinely cheap, so your money goes far.
Is Malaysia cheaper than Thailand?
Generally, yes — food, hotels and transport all undercut Thailand by a meaningful margin. See our Malaysia vs Thailand guide.
Are there hidden costs?
Our packages include flights, hotels, transfers and the stated tours, so the only extras are meals not included and optional excursions. Call 020 7946 0958 for a firm price.
