The headline numbers

For a comfortable two-week trip with boutique hotels, internal flights and the Ha Long Bay cruise, most of our customers spend roughly £1,700–£2,300 per person all-in. Budget travellers can do it for far less; the sky's the limit at the top end.

Flights

Return flights from London to Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City run about £600–£900 per person, usually with one stop. Direct options are limited, so expect a connection in the Gulf, Singapore or East Asia. We always book flights within our packages, so the price you're quoted is the price you pay.

Hotels

  • Budget — £10–£25 a night for clean guesthouses and homestays.
  • Mid-range — £35–£70 a night for a solid 3–4★ hotel.
  • Premium — £90–£250 a night for boutique and beachfront properties.

Vietnam's hotels are exceptional value — a £60 room here rivals a £180 room in many destinations. We pick properties that balance location and comfort for couples and families.

Food, transport and tours

Street food is astonishingly cheap: a bowl of pho costs £1.50–£2, and a full meal at a good restaurant £6–£12 a head. Internal flights (Hanoi–Da Nang, say) run £30–£70 one-way. The Ha Long Bay overnight cruise is the single biggest tour expense, typically £120–£250 depending on the boat.

A daily budget guide

  • Comfortable couple — £40–£80 a day for food, drinks and the odd tour.
  • Family of four — £80–£140 a day.
  • Premium travellers — £120–£250 a day.
